Volunteer

The Clunes Museum is run entirely by volunteers and it’s a great place to volunteer. It is an opportunity to do interesting work, acquire new skills and learn more about the district’s rich cultural heritage. We provide training and pay for volunteers to attend workshops.

Just to give you an idea, these are some of the core jobs involved in running a modern museum:

  • Collection Management and Presentation. Eg: cataloguing; database management; setting up Special Exhibitions; updating the Permanent Exhibitions; preservation and conservation projects; creating digital records of the collection items.
  • Promotion and Marketing. Eg: Open Days; talks; special events; social media and website updates.
  • Community Engagement and Audience Development. Eg: school tours; group tours; Clunes History walks.
  • Research. Eg: Family history request; window displays; newsletter articles.

Membership

Membership is $20 Single and $30 for a Family.

The benefits of membership include free admission to the Museum and a subscription to “Discovery”, the Museum’s triennial newsletter, as well as the opportunity to participate in the Museum’s work.
