The Returned and Services League of Australia

The Returned and Services League of Australia (often abbreviated to RSL) was formed in 1916 to support men and women who have served or are serving in the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

The Clunes Sub-Branch was chartered in 1921 and is a traditional, non-licensed Sub-Branch of the RSL, situated at 30 Fraser Street, Clunes, in the historic Victoria Heritage listed former London Chartered Bank.

Sub-Branch members preserve and maintain the local War Memorial, as well as a significant collection of local honour boards and memorabilia from World Wars 1 & 2.

The Sub-Branch is responsible for organising commemoration days such as Anzac Day (25th April), Remembrance Day (11th November), Vietnam Veterans Day (18th August), V.P. Day (15th August); organises the sale of Anzac Badges and Remembrance Day Poppies to further the welfare work of the RSL; supports youth in Clunes by Awards to the local Primary School and one-off assistance when needed, helps other local organisations and activities in Clunes where possible by loaning equipment and the use of club rooms and facilities.
